Year 1/2
Welcome to Year 1/2
In our mixed Year 1/2 classes, we work hard to develop the skills our children have already begun to learn on their journey through the school. These include phonics, reading, writing in sentences and number work. With the range of ages, abilities and confidences, we use play, practical resources and small group work to develop children's skills to build small steps of progress from their various starting points.
Our topic work is in a two year cycle, ensuring the children experience a broad and engaging curriculum and revisit key topic skills to become confident and secure. This year, we will be covering topics such as: The Great Fire of London, Around the World in 60 Days, being Grand Designers and a local study looking closely at Heavenly Hamsphire. We will be learning about The Titanic and how the world has changed Through the Decades We use a fun mix of History, Geography and Science as our topic drivers.
This term we are learning about...
London's Burning!
