Choosing Bramley Church of England Primary School for your child

    Reception place's (Year R)

We appreciate that many of you will be embarking on the daunting journey of choosing a school for your child for the first time. Others will have a child at school already and have a good understanding of what’s involved. The purpose of this website is to provide you with an overview of the learning experiences your child will have and the care your child will receive if they were to join us at Bramley Church of England Primary School. Although it will not answer all of your questions, hopefully this prospectus helps you with your decision.

There are specific Open Days in the Autumn Term if you are considering the school for your child starting in Reception. These are the perfect opportunity to learn about our school, see the school in action and ask any question you have about your child starting school.

You will be able to find any planned open days on this page, once the next set has been organised for Autumn 2026.

The main round application process for entry into Year R in 2026 opened in November 2025 and closed on 14 January 2026.

If, when the places are allocated, you wish to make an appeal, please refer to the Hampshire Admissions website for full details.

    An in-year admissions (Year R-6)

In year admissions are when a child needs an immediate school place during the school year. There are two main reasons for this. You might be moving house or be unhappy with your child’s current school. You can apply for an in-year place up to four weeks before the place is needed. Schools will aim to respond to your application in writing within 10 school days but must respond in no later than 15 school days.

If your child is having difficulties at their current school, please speak to the headteacher to try and resolve the situation in the first instance. Changing school can be difficult for a child and rarely solves their difficulties. It is important to consider the emotional, social and academic consequences for your child connected with a change of school before contemplating making an application to another school.

You are encouraged to visit schools and look at their websites to help you decide which schools you wish to apply to. Not all schools will have vacancies. Some will be full with a waiting list and so it is wise to consider more than one school in case any are unable to take your child.

Use our school search to find Hampshire schools near to where you live.

Use our Catchment Finder to find the catchment school for your address.

When choosing a school, you must consider how your child will get there as you will be responsible for their travel arrangements and travel costs, unless you are eligible for local authority funded assistance with transport to school.

In addition to making your application, you must provide the school with evidence of your child’s address, by providing any two of the following:

    • Driving licence
    • Council tax bill showing both your name and the home address
    • Utility bill (gas, electricity, water) showing both your name and home address
    • Bank statement showing both your name and the home address.

Or, if you are applying for a school place because of a house move or military posting:

    • Read our address page to find out what evidence is required.

If you would like to make a visit to the school, please contact the school office at adminoffice@bramley.hants.sch.uk  who will be pleased to arrange an appointment to tour the school.

Please note that schools are unlikely to be able to respond to applications or visit requests during school holidays. If you are waiting for an outcome, you may need to wait until the schools return.
